Belligerence at Brantford bus terminal leads to charges

A 65-year-old Brantford woman faces charges after another woman was assaulted at the city’s bus terminal.

On Friday, Nov. 10, at around 5:30 p.m. the Brantford Police Service received a call from Brantford Transit regarding a belligerent female passenger. The female had been rude and belligerent toward transit staff at the main bus terminal on Darling Street.

A concerned citizen tried to calm the situation and was allegedly assaulted by the accused. The 22-year-old female victim did not require medical attention.

Police officers arrived and searched the area as the suspect had left. On Nov. 11, just before 12 p.m., the suspect was seen by officers in the downtown area.

The accused, a 65-year-old Brantford woman, is charged with assault and two counts of breach of probation. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
