Suspect sought for assault in Brantford park

News Oct 13, 2017 by Mike Peeling Brant News

The assault of a woman in Shallow Creek Park over Thanksgiving weekend has Brantford police reaching out to the public for help identifying a suspect.

On Saturday, Oct. 7 shortly before 6 p.m., a 32-year-old Brantford woman was sitting in Shallow Creek Park at 5 East Ave. She was waiting for friends when a man she didn’t know approached and spoke to her. She felt uncomfortable and walked away. The man followed her, tried to speak to her again and asked to borrow a lighter.

Sooner after, the man punched the woman in the arm, so she fled the area and called the Brantford Police Service. Officers responded, searched the area for the man, but were unable to find him.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, about five feet 10 inches or five feet 11 inches tall with a medium build and dark hair shaved on the sides and longer on top. He wore a grey sweatshirt over a black T-shirt with red writing, blue jeans and red running shoes.

The Brantford Police Service’s major crime unit encourages anyone with information to contact Det. Darryl Graham at 519-756- 0113, ext. 2206, dgraham@police.brantford.on.ca or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477.
