Cupcakes, pies and hors d’oeuvres will take centre stage when “Canada’s biggest baker” headlines this year’s Grandelicious Food and Wine Show.
Renowned pastry chef Anna Olson, star of Food Network Canada’s Bake with Anna Olson, will meet with fans and offer baking demonstrations during the second annual culinary festival.
“We wanted something different this year, but still in the realm of food and
dining,” said event co-organizer Jamie Stephens.
“What better way to change it up than to showcase arguably the biggest baker in Canada?
“Brantford doesn’t get a lot of celebrities here. It’s exciting that somebody we can watch daily on TV will be appearing live in our own backyard. We’re more excited about this because we like Anna as a person. You’ll know what we mean when you meet her. She’s easily one of the most down-to-earth people we’ve ever worked with.”
Olson found fame on the Food Network Canada shows Sugar and Fresh with Anna Olson, which have aired in 40 countries around the world. She is the author of seven bestselling cookbooks, including her most recent release, Back to Baking, co-authored by her husband Michael.
This year’s Grandelicious Food and Wine Show will run over two days instead
of three days, as it did in 2012.
But Stephens and co-organizer Trevor Cherewka have packed even more food, wine and beer vendors and entertainment into the weekend.
“We’re looking to create a world-class food festival right here in Brantford,” Stephens said. “We love
the out of market shows,
but we want to give you a reason to not have to drive out of town to enjoy a world-class event.”
