For those who’ve never been to Taste of Glenhyrst, 11-year-old Maddy Henrique wants to show you what the hype is all about.
The Grade 6 Ecole Fairview student was asked by her mother, Angela Henrique, organizer of this year’s Taste of Glenhyrst, to create a video to promote the event.
“The video showcases what the event is about, so if people haven’t been before they can get a sense of what goes on,” Angela said.
The video, available on YouTube and the Taste of Glenhyrst official website, offers a virtual tour of the event through photographs of last year’s Taste of Glenhyrst, set to music from this year’s entertainment, LMT Connection.
“I’m hoping people will learn a bit more about Taste of Glenhyrst and want to come,” Maddy said. “I know it’s a great event.”
It took Maddy three days and 10 hours of editing to perfect the video, which includes scenes from last year’s flash mob, a plethora of dessert, food and wine photos and images of art on display.
The 15th annual Taste of Glenhyrst takes place Thursday, June 21, from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. in the gardens of Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant.
The garden party event showcases the food, wine, beer and desserts the area has to offer, while also shining a spotlight on the arts with a visual art display and living art performance.
Tickets cost $90 and include a $45 tax receipt. Call 519-756-5932, e-mail info@glenhyrstartgallery.ca or drop into the gallery at 20 Ava Rd. for tickets. Visit www.glenhyrst.ca for more information.
