The Brantford Death Racers had a good showing at the Canadian Death Race in Grande Cache, Alberta.
The team of Jay Hirota, J.S. Esposito, Dan Namisniak and Craig Hewings recently represented Brantford in the grueling 125-km footrace through the rugged wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.
The Brantford Death Racers team finished 18th out of 256 teams with a time of 15:12:43.
Hirota finished the first leg in 1:49:14, which was good for 57th among the teams in the race.
Hewings made gains with a time of 3:48:37 in the second leg, which included two mountain climbs.
Hirota tackled the third leg of the race, covering 21 km.
Esposito then ran a 36-km route, which included a nearly 7,000-foot ascent of Mt. Hamel. He finished in just over five hours to bring the team’s cumulative time to 13:02:06 with one leg to go.
Namisniak handled the Hell’s Gate river crossing and final 22 km in 2:10:37.
