PGA playoffs for Hearn

Brantford’s David Hearn is looking to improve his standing during the first of four PGA Tour playoff tournaments starting this Thursday at the Barclays in Farmingdale, New York.

Hearn, 33, earned his entry into the FedEx Cup playoffs by accumulating 432 cup points through 22 events this season, placing him 108th amongst all PGA Tour golfers.

But he needs to improve that placement at this weekend’s tournament if he wants to stay in the hunt.

The top-125 golfers get into the Barlcays, but the field is trimmed to 100 before Round 2 of the playoffs at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

This is Hearn’s second career appearance in the PGA’s postseason. He finished tied for 67th during a weather-shortened 54 hole tournament at the Barclays last season, which was not good enough to advance.
