Brantford’s Brinley McLaren brought home a bronze medal from the Women’s Baseball World Cup.
The Canadian squad lost to the United States in the semifinals before defeating Australia 17-13 in the bronze medal game on Sunday.
The pitcher celebrated her 17th birthday while practicing with Team Canada at the tournament in Alberta that ran from Aug. 10 to Aug. 19.
McLaren, the youngest player on the team, pitched just two and two-thirds innings over two appearances in the tournament.
McLaren plays locally for the Brantford Jr. Red Sox Midget Tier 1 team that will be hosting and competing in the Ontario Baseball Association’s Midget AA championship tournament this weekend in Brantford.
While McLaren was absent, her Intercounty Baseball Association Red Sox team competed in their local championship tournament this past weekend in Brantford.
The team lost in the championship game.
