The St. John’s Green Eagles won the Brant high school golf tournament on Thursday thanks in large part to a stellar round by John Boncoddo.
The 16-year-old up-and-coming amateur golfer aced the Par 3 17th at the Oaks of St. George on his way to the low round of the day.
Boncoddo captured the individual championship by four strokes over Brantford Collegiate Institute’s Brock Rogerson.
Stefan DeDominicus from St. John’s finished third, six strokes back of Boncoddo.
The schools were ranked according to the combined best three scores of the day from the teams of five players.
St. John’s, BCI and North Park Collegiate teams will head to a CWOSSA tournament being held on Sept. 27 at Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin.
Each school will send a four-player team to the CWOSSA tournament.
The low score for Paris District High School was captured by Anthony Lair, Assumption College’s best round went to Austin Elkin, North Park’s low scorer was Ryan Stephenson and Jeremy Vanderpost had the best day for Pauline Johnson Collegiate.
Skylar Turkiewicz from St. John’s College was the lone female entered and will also advance to CWOSSA after carding an 82 on the day.
