Brantford’s David Hearn had a solid start to the 2013 PGA Tour season at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
After carding an opening round three-under par 67 to be among the early leaders, Hearn’s even 70 in Round 2 pushed him out of contention.
But he made the cut and turned in a six-under par total through the final two rounds to finish at nine-under 271 for the tournament – good for a tie for 31st.
Hearn finished tied for 10th at the Sony Open last season. He earned $33,208 at this year’s tournament and will look to improve upon his finish at the Humana Challenge in California this week.
Hearn is looking for a good start to the 2013 season after missing six cuts in his first 10 events last year.
