The Brantford Golden Eagles came away with an 8-5 victory over the Guelph Hurricanes on Saturday and maintained their first place standing in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Brantford’s Junior B club fired 50 shots on net during a game at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and only faced 24 from the Hurricanes.

The Eagles have a four-point lead on the second place Stratford Cullitons in the GOJHL Midwestern Conference with just four games remaining in the regular season, including a head-to-head matchup against the Cullitons on Friday in Stratford.

Brantford is home again on Saturday to take on the Listowel Cyclones at the Gretzky centre in a 7:30 p.m. game.
