The St. George Dukes have made the tough decision to suspend operations for the coming 2013-2014 Niagara and District Junior Hockey League season.
James Arndt, president and owner of the junior C club, said it wasn’t an easy decision to make. For a variety of personal and professional reasons, Arndt said the Dukes were unable to organize a management team for the coming campaign.
“With my work schedule, I am unable to run the entire operation on my own,” Arndt said. “Our objective for the offseason will be to reorganize our management team and be a stronger organization starting in the 2014-2015 season.”
The Dukes were promoted a year early to the NDJHL as the Ontario Hockey Association slowly works to realign the NDJHL and merge it with the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League.
This season, St. George would have played in a newly arranged NDJHL East Division. The Burford Bulldogs and Paris Mounties are both slated to play in the NDJHL West Division during the coming season.
