More than 60 teams will be in Brant this weekend to compete in the 23rd annual Brantford CYO Girls Basketball tournament.
The president of Brantford CYO Girls Basketball expects at least two of the club's teams to be in the hunt for a championship during the organization's 23rd annual tournament.
"Our major bantam team and our bantam team each have players that have played basketball at a provincial level," Jim Dignan said. "I expect (them both) to make it to the championships on Sunday."
More than 60 teams from Dundas to Sudbury will be in Brant to compete in eight tournament divisions from Friday through Sunday.
The Grade 8 girls major bantam AAA team will be led by Emily Dignan, Emily Glendinning and Lauren Snider, who all have provincial experience.
Dignan said the same is true of the Grade 7 girls bantam team, with Megan Mamela, Kaitlyn Overeem and Alaina McMillan leading the charge.
The novice division is one of the most stacked with local players, featuring two Brantford CYO Falcons teams and one entry from the Brantford Briers Basketball Club. Most novice games will be played at Ryerson Heights Elementary School in West Brant.
