Collaboration key for Walton: president

In response to the Brant News article of July 26 (Tutela Heights residents call for greater transparency), we wanted to write to reiterate our commitment to working collaboratively with residents, county administration and county council, who represent residents’ interests.

Our recent outreach to council members was to update them on what we have done since our open house on May 29 to incorporate the public’s wishes into the community design and how these changes have been formalized through our revised plan of subdivision.

This is something we committed to doing publicly at that event and is part of the statutory requirements associated with our application.  As a partner in this community, we are looking forward to bringing economic growth to Brant and providing new opportunities for families to both work and live right here in the county.

At Walton, our business process begins and ends with our commitment to doing the right thing and that means being open and honest about our plans with everyone.

This is why we have held public meetings, revised our plans to meet local needs and posted every study conducted by our independent experts online (www.waltonriverbend.com).

We have also listed every question we received since then and the response to each of these on the Riverbend website so everyone has access to this information. It’s also why we felt it was important to update members of council on our progress to date.

As noted in the Brant News article, the opportunity to engage elected representatives, like residents, of the community should be an opportunity open to anyone.

We realize that there are some who don’t support development of any type, anywhere, ever. And we know that we may not be able to satisfy those individuals.

We are, however, committed to working with the community and its officials, both elected and unelected, to bring to Brant the type of sustainable development that will help make this community a prosperous place for people to live, work and raise their families for generations to come.

I urge you to visit our dedicated web page for Riverbend and see the living proof of our transparency, honesty and commitment to this community.

I hope your readers will, as well, in order to get to know us a little better.
