Staff Report
BRANT NEWS

The Rotary Club of Brantford will welcome more than 350 visitors from across southern Ontario and western New York to the city during the 2012 Rotary 7090 District Conference, taking place this weekend at the Best Western Brant Park Inn and Conference Centre.

District Governor Rick Sterne and local dignitaries will welcome visiting Rotarians at 9 a.m. on Saturday, before a full day of activities and discussions that will highlight the work of Rotary locally and abroad.

Highlights of the conference will include an appearance by 14-year-old swimmer Annaleise Carr, who’s record-breaking crossing of Lake Ontario this summer raised more than $135,000 for Camp Trillium. Carr will be in attendance during a lunch featuring keynote speaker Paralympian swimmer Darda Sales, taking place on Saturday  from noon until 1:45 p.m.

Saturday night’s conference dinner will feature keynote speaker Dr. Rehan Dost, who along with his wife, Catherine, conquered the summit of Mount Everest in May 2012. For more information about Rotary, visit www.rotary.org.
