Police seize more than $55,000 worth of pot in grow-op bust

Brantford police shut down a $55,000 marijuana grow operation after executing a search warrant at a Winniett Street apartment complex on Tuesday night.

Officers with the street crime unit searched the residence shortly before 9 p.m. and seized 55 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $55,000, more than 43 grams of dried pot valued at $430 and growing equipment found in a bedroom in the home.

A 42-year-old Winniett Street man is charged with production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
