Police arrest man after witnessing downtown drug deal

A man dealing drugs in downtown Brantford was arrested by city police on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators with the beat unit witnessed two people involved in a drug deal who were sitting on a park bench in the area of Darling and Market streets shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Officers arrested the man after he was found to be in possession of 12 grams of marijuana wrapped in eight separate bags.

Police say the drugs have a total street value of $120.

A 27-year-old Dundas Street man is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking.
