It’s been 15 years since Paulmac’s Pets came to Brantford and the business wants to say thank you to the community.
Paulmac’s will host an anniversary celebration and food drive on Saturday, June 23, at its Fairview Drive store.
“Brantford has treated us very well,” said store owner Mary Lea Gowan. “We’ve watched our customers grow up and they’ve watched my kids grow up.”
The store will be accepting donations of money or non-perishable food items for the food bank during Saturday’s event as a way to give back to the community.
Customers who make a donation to the food bank will be given a raffle ticket for free giveaways. Items in the draw include aquariums, pet food, pet beds and more.
Saturday’s event will also feature many in-store specials, as well as a “top model” competition. All are welcome to bring their pet, whether a dog, cat, bird, rodent or reptile, and show its off for a chance to win.
Modelling categories include best in show, best dressed, most talented, most original and look-alike. The event will take place at 10 a.m.
At noon, Jungle Cat World, based in Orono, Ontario, will put some special visitors on display. Accompanying the animals will be zoo employees ready to answer questions.
