BRANT NEWS
Dry conditions in the County of Brant have prompted the municipality’s fire department to issue a ban on all open air fires.
Prolonged high temperatures and a lack of rainfall mean that no burning approval permits or industrial burn permits will be issued until further notice.
“The lack of rain presents a significant increase in risk of grass and brush fires due to dry conditions and dead undergrowth,” fire chief Paul Boissonneault said in a media release.
The open air burn ban includes any fire set outside, including campfires, burn barrels, agricultural site fires, construction site fires and incinerators.
Small, confined grill fires for the purpose of cooking are still permitted.
