BRANT NEWS
A second proposal for redrawing Brant’s federal electoral riding boundaries has been released by the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission.
Three rural areas in the western, northern and eastern portions of Brant riding are under consideration to be moved into surrounding jurisdictions.
The latest proposal seeks to move an area located north of Paris Plains Church Road, Scenic Drive and Howell Road into a proposed new riding of Kitchener South-North Dumfries.
An area located east of Madden Road, Langford Church Road and Baptist Church Road would be added to a proposed riding of Ancaster-Flamborough-Glanbrook.
An area west of Middle Townline Road would be added to the existing electoral district of Oxford.
The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario is working to redraw riding boundaries to create 15 new seats for the province in the House of Commons to reflect changing demographics.
The commission will present its final recommendation to Parliament by next February.
Members of the public can share views about the latest proposal for Brant riding by sending submissions by e-mail to ontario@rfed-rcf.ca or by calling 1-855-747-7224.
