In Season Living has a new home to better help local residents beautify their homes.
“It gives us another 3,000 square feet of storage space, which we need because we sell out so quickly,” owner Wanda Brooks said of her new surroundings at 5 Varadi Ave. “We are really excited to be able to put everything under one roof and give Brantford this home interior kind of store.”
Known by many people as “the old general store,” the new location features a spacious, open-concept floor plan to better showcase In Season Living’s wares.
Cathedral ceilings, warm mocha hues and a welcoming atmosphere invite people to browse through the store at a leisurely pace and visualize ways to transform and personalize rooms to suit their specific needs.
Attractive vignettes provide ideas on how furnishings can be arranged, what colour schemes work well together and which accessories best complement the furniture people choose.
With the new location comes a new direction for the full service home furnishing store that also offers in-home consultations, interior design services, home staging, holiday decorating, single room makeovers and full home redecorating.
“We are really hitting a market in Brantford,” Brooks said. “We are gearing more to Canadian-made custom furniture, although we sell imports as well. Our main thrust is designer fabrics and Canadian-built products.”
That direction cements Brooks’ commitment to supporting Canadian manufacturers while also ensuring clients have access to quality products in a timely manner.
“There are so many warranties on things like frames when it comes to Canadian products and it is easily accessible because it is in our area,” Brooks said.
A new “creation” department, run by Brooks’ son Josh, enables clients to order customized dried floral arrangements to complement their home décor, or seasonal arrangements such as Christmas urns.
The new location allows for a wider range of products that couldn’t be stored at the store’s former site on Elgin Street.
In Season Living is also an official Yankee Candle distributor, offering the latest scents and colours in candles that help people create comfortable atmospheres in their homes during cold-weather months.
Other popular designer brands available at the store include Stephen and Chris, Décor-Rest, Brentwood Classics, Superstyle, Trend Line, Ashley and Simmons Upholstery.
In addition to furnishings and home accessories, shoppers can find a selection of artwork and custom draperies, all at reasonable prices.
“I don’t do the big markups,” Brook said. “That’s because I don’t have the large overhead of other box stores. It is also a family run business, everyone who works here is family.”
In Season Living is holding a soft opening this Friday and Saturday with an official grand opening planned for next Friday, Sept. 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8, featuring a custom chair giveaway.
