Cocaine, crack cocaine and thousands of dollars in cash were seized by Brantford police in a traffic stop on Victoria Street after officers witnessed a drug deal on Tuesday night.
Officers with the street crime unit saw a man and a woman involved in the deal shortly before 9 p.m. Shortly after, they arrested the woman on Victoria Street.
The woman was found in possession of 0.7 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $70.
About an hour later, police conducted a traffic stop involving the man who was part of the drug deal.
Police say the man disobeyed an officer and reversed his vehicle at a dangerous speed through a private lot on Waterloo Street.
The man reversed into a hydro pole, continued forward, lost control and struck a second pole so hard it snapped in half.
The man was arrested and taken to Brantford General Hospital for precautionary reasons.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 55 grams of cocaine with a street value of $5,500, nearly 36 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $3,580 and more than $6,500 in cash.
A 21-year-old William Street man is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking, trafficking in a controlled substance, dangerous driving, breach of a recognizance and possession of the proceeds of crime.
A 34-year-old Darling Street woman is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.
The woman was released with a future court date.
