A man is in critical condition after being struck by a westbound freight train early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at about 1:40 a.m. on the railway tracks between Stanley and Rawdon streets, according to Brantford police, who attended the scene along with emergency services.

The man was transported to Hamilton General Hospital by ambulance where he is listed in critical condition.

The collision is still under investigation.
