Four people are facing charges after a 22-year-old machete-wielding man broke into an apartment on Wednesday afternoon following an earlier break-in at his residence.
City police officers responded to a Darling Street apartment after the man broke into the unit and swung the machete at a 17-year-old female youth who was known to him.
Police say the man suspected the female was responsible for earlier break and enters at his apartment.
The man attended the victim’s apartment and attempted to kick in her door. The lock and door was damaged, but the victim barricaded herself in by placing a heavy object against the door.
The man then climbed through a window while brandishing a machete. Police say he swung the weapon at the victim while accusing her of the break-in.
The victim received a minor scratch after getting hit by the machete and the man returned to his apartment.
Police say an investigation revealed that the victim had broken into the man’s apartment earlier in the day with two others and stole property.
A 22-year-old Darling Street man is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000 and break and enter.
A 17-year-old female, also of Darling Street, is charged with break and enter, two counts of breaching probation and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
An 18-year-old Darling Street woman is charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.
An 18-year-old Darling Street man is charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and two counts of breaching probation.
