Pinehurst Lake near Paris has been temporarily deemed unsafe for swimming, according to a media release issued by the Brant County Health Unit.

Dr. Malcolm Locke, medical officer of health for the health unit, recommends people do not swim in the lake until further notice following a preliminary investigation into an outbreak.

The Brant County Health Unit received reports of people experiencing vomiting and diarrhea after swimming in Pinehurst Lake about a week ago.

Beach postings occur when there is a risk that water is potentially dangerous. The heath unit suspects the transmission of an organism is occurring at the Pinehurst Lake beach area and is investigating.

The public will be notified when Pinehurst Lake is cleared. Beach postings can be read at www.bchu.org under “health topics.”
