Four people are facing assault charges following a fight outside a Henry Street residence during the early morning hours on Saturday.
Brantford police say a verbal argument between two men escalated into a physical confrontation shortly before 4 a.m.
Police say a 28-year-old man was punched in the head and fell to the ground. Three other males joined in the assault and were seen punching and kicking the victim in the head and torso while he was on the ground.
The victim was taken to Brantford General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He remains in hospital in stable condition.
Four males were arrested and held for a bail hearing.
An 18-year-old man is charged with assault causing bodily harm and two counts of breaching probation.
A 21-year-old man is charged with assault causing bodily harm, falling to comply with a recognizance and breaching probation.
A 16-year-old male is charged with assault causing bodily harm and breaching probation.
A 16-year-old male is charged with assault causing bodily harm.
