A County of Brant family is grieving the loss of a husband and father remembered for his love for people.

Leslie John Dinsmore, 55, succumbed to his injuries at the Brantford General Hospital following a single-vehicle accident on Wetmores Road Tuesday morning. Police say Dinsmore’s Honda SUV left the road for unknown reasons and struck a tree in the road’s south ditch.

Dinsmore’s son, Jacob, said his father was looking forward to becoming a grandfather in the near future. Jacob and his sister were both recently engaged.

“The first thing he said when my sister, Sarah, told him she was engaged was ‘when do I get grandkids?’” Jacob said. “My sister is to be married in October this year and my wedding will be in August next year.”

Jacob said his dad showed that he cared about those close to him.

“He was a funny and caring individual who loved everyone around him,” Jacob said. “He was a respectful individual. He was somebody that would always make you laugh and he was the life of the party.”

Jacob said his dad worked as a tradesman and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in the summer months.

“He was a pipefitter and did mechanical work in industrial buildings and hospitals,” Jacob said.
Jacob said his family has no knowledge of the circumstances that led to his father’s vehicle leaving the road on Tuesday morning.

“What happened doesn’t make sense,” Jacob said. “Something must have happened. He had driven down that road so many times.”

Dinsmore’s daughter, Sarah, said her dad was an amazing person.

“He was my hero,” Sarah said. “He was the best man that I ever knew and I will miss him so much.
“He was so supportive of his family and proud of his kids.”

Dinsmore is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Theresa Dinsmore, daughter Sarah, 28, son Jacob, 25, and son Ross, 21.

Funeral arrangements are currently being organized by the family.
