Brant MPP Dave Levac

Support for social services

FOR BRANT NEWS

Ontario’s community social services agencies are receiving more than $10 million in financial support from the Government of Ontario to improve and maintain their facilities.

These are agencies that, for example, support people with disabilities or women and their children fleeing domestic violence.

Through targeted investments in these vital agencies, the government is supporting communities and strengthening supports for vulnerable people.

These funds will help maintain facilities and allow agencies to continue their work in communities throughout Ontario – including right here in Brant.

Community Living Brant is a recipient of $40,000 that will go toward helping improve its facilities so the organization can better assist clients.

Overall, the province is investing more than $10 million in more than 500 minor capital projects to address structural deficiencies, code compliance, accessibility and health and safety issues.

These investments will help:

- Replace or repair building components.

- Improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

- Improve day program and residential spaces for people with developmental disabilities.

- Improve shelter spaces for women and their children.

- Improve facilities at agencies that serve aboriginal and francophone communities.

For more information about the government’s investment program, or how your agency can apply for the next round of financial support, please contact my office at 519-759-0361 or visit my website at www.davelevac.ca.

Dave Levac is MPP for Brant and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
