BRANT NEWS
Brantford police are investigating the theft of eight Dyson brand vacuum cleaners from local retail stores during the past month.
Police received three reports of the vacuums being stolen between Oct. 19 and Nov. 21. The value of the thefts is about $5,000.
Investigators say each of the thefts has involved at least two men and a dark SUV or GMC Suburban-type vehicle.
The suspects have placed the vacuums in shopping carts and left the stores through emergency exits or less busy side doors.
Officers are reviewing surveillance videos of the suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Dan Bosett at 519-756-0113 ext. 3008.
Police are encouraging local businesses to secure high-end vacuum cleaners and are alerting residents to be cautious if purchasing vacuums from online classified websites.
Investigators say residents should be suspicious if a vacuum being sold is new and does not include a receipt.
