City man charged with domestic assault, resisting arrest

A Brantford man faces numerous assault charges following a domestic dispute during the early morning hours on Thursday.

Brantford police officers attended a dispute at a Queen Street residence at about 3 a.m. after an argument between a man and woman became violent.

Investigators say the man pushed the woman over a couch and slapped the victim across the face while she was on the ground.

Officers arrived and the man became violent toward them by kicking and kneeing police while resisting arrest.

A 21-year-old Brantford man is charged with domestic assault, three counts of assaulting police with intent to resist arrest, failing to comply with a recognizance and breaching probation.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
