City expands plastics recycling

City of Brantford Mayor Chris Friel and Elizabeth Ramsay, Brantford’s waste reduction co-ordinator, show off the city’s new 84-litre recycling bins at city hall on Thursday. The blue boxes will be distributed to single-family dwellings in the city between Nov. 5 and Nov. 17. The new boxes are for plastics recycling, with the city set to expand the types of plastic food and beverage containers it recycles. Plastic categories one through seven will now be recycled. Current blue boxes will be used for cardboard and paper recycling. Contact Brantford’s Public Works Commission at 519-759-1350 or visit www.brantford.ca for more information.
