Rich and Sandy Whittington stand next to some of their product at Jungle Heat Imports grand opening celebration on Saturday. The hot sauce emporium, located at 84 Charing Cross St., specializes in exotic and blazingly hot sauces and snacks. Rich’s passion for hot sauces was born when he received several unique hot sauces from his wife, Sandy, and daughter, Katy, as a gift in 2003. He began collecting them as a hobby. “This is not just a store, this is my rec room,” he said. Proceeds from grand opening sales of the store’s Jungle Heat product line were donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. “We want to give something back,” Sandy said. “We’ve been really fortunate and want to help other people in the community.”
