A 43-year-old Brantford woman has been charged with transportation fraud after skipping out on paying her taxi fare.

Brantford police arrested the woman at around 12:40 a.m. Friday after she jumped out of a cab, fleeing on foot to avoid paying the fare.

The woman was arrested after the taxi driver flagged down a community patrol officer on Alfred Street at East Avenue.

She was released from custody and will appear in court on Aug. 24.
