Brantford police have made an arrest in relation to a vicious assault on a 24-year-old woman that occurred early Thursday morning in the area of Market Street South and Clarence Street.
In a media release, police said major crime investigators arrested a 21-year-old Brantford man on Saturday. He is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated sexual assault.
In an earlier media release, police said a 24-year-old woman walking in the area of the FreshCo grocery store at 50 Market St. S. at about 2 a.m. on Thursday suffered a serious head injury after being attacked by a man who was seen acting aggressively and banging on the windows of the grocery store, which was closed at the time.
Police say the victim was able to attend a nearby business and contact emergency services personnel following the attack. She was taken to Brantford General Hospital for treatment.
Police say the victim did not know her attacker.
Daryle Wade Brown, 21, of Darling Street, stands charged with aggravated assault and aggravated sexual assault.
