Brantford police lay drug and firearms charges

A Brantford man is facing firearms and drug-trafficking charges after city police executed a high-risk search warrant at a Dundas Street residence early on Wednesday.

The Brantford police street crime unit and emergency response team searched thehome shortly before 4 a.m.

Officers seized a loaded .22 calibre handgun and more than 70 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $700. The handgun, which had two rounds in the chamber, was deemed inoperable after examination.

A 61-year-old Dundas Street man is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, careless storage of a firearm and ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of weapons dangerous to public peace.
