BRANT NEWS
A 42-year-old Brantford man is facing a child luring charge after city police arrested the accused on Friday.
Police say the man allegedly asked a 16-year-old girl known to him to send sexually explicit images of herself during communications with the youth between June 13 and July 30 last year.
Officers say the victim sent about 50 sexual pictures of herself to the accused. Investigators seized the man’s cellular phone.
Police say the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim. The man is charged with luring a child via a computer.
Police say in cases such as these they are often not contacted until after an offender has been confronted by a witness. Police say once an offender is confronted, they will attempt to destroy evidence.
By not alerting the offender and contacting police immediately, police say there is a greater chance of offenders being charged.
