City police are investigating after the body of a 60-year-old Brantford woman was found in Mohawk Lake on Thursday afternoon.

Brantford police say the deceased is identified as Darlene Cyrenne.

A resident called police at about 4:30 p.m. after finding the body in the lake, located adjacent to Mohawk Park.

Investigators say there were no obvious signs that indicated a cause of death.

Cyrenne was reported missing to police by her spouse earlier on Thursday afternoon.

Brantford Police Service criminal investigators and the coroner’s office have begun an investigation into Cyrenne’s death. An autopsy will be performed in an attempt to determine a cause of death.

Anyone with information about Cyrenne’s death is asked to contact Det. Dave Minutillo of the major crime unit at 519-756-0113 ext. 2272.
