A 13-year-old male youth is in critical condition in a Hamilton hospital after being struck by a vehicle on County Road 18 on Wednesday evening.

County of Brant OPP say officers responded to a collision on County Road 18 at Johnson Road shortly before 6:45 p.m. after two pedestrians crossed the road.

The 13-year-old, a resident of the County of Brant, was hit by a southbound Chrysler.

Police say the youth suffered life-threatening injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Hamilton Health Sciences.

OPP technical traffic collision investigators are assisting with the investigation. County Road 18 was closed for several hours on Wednesday night.
