BRANTFORD (BCN) - Brantford police officers arrested a 50-year-old Eagle Place resident with an unsecured rifle and a small amount of cocaine.

Police executed a warrant at a Gladstone Avenue apartment on Monday, finding a loaded.22 calibre rifle under the resident’s bed, with seven rounds of ammo loaded including one in the chamber.

Officers also seized a small quantity of cocaine during their search of the apartment.

I agree. The cops really need to go chase some real criminals 8-)

Nate can correct me if I'm wrong, but a "secured weapon" as legally defined would be totally useless when one is in imminent danger. You can always snap a wet towel though I guess.
