Saturday's second annual JCI Breakfast in Brant Park attracted 150 people, who started their day with a hearty breakfast and some fun in the sun at Brant Conservation Area. The event was held in conjunction with Brantford's Charity of Hope to raise money for local programming. JCI Brantford's Darren Gagne said the event is an important one on his organization’s calendar. “This event was three times as busy as last year,” he said. “It’s an important event.” Gagne estimated that more than $500 had been raised to support JCI business skills programs for people aged 18 to 40 and the Charity of Hope’s children's initiatives. Three gallons of pancake mix were used during the big breakfast, which was followed by children’s activities and a dip in the conservation area's pool. Gagne promised the breakfast fundraiser would be held again next year. “It’s an annual thing, so hopefully it will continue to get bigger and better,” he said.
