Rawlings Canada general manager Randy Beatty poses with the company’s Gold Glove, awarded annually to the top defenders in Major League Baseball.
A national buying group has confirmed what thousands of young athletes already know: When it comes to sports equipment, Rawlings delivers the goods.
Rawlings Canada was named hard goods vendor of the year at the recent Source for Sports Show in Niagara Falls. The award recognizes the supplier with the best sales and customer service, quality products, innovation and profitability for more than 150 Source for Sports stores nationwide.
“We are extremely thrilled to be selected as the winner of the 2012 hard goods supplier of the year,” said Rawlings Canada general manager Randy Beatty. “This may be our first, but it won’t be our last.”
Beatty said every Rawlings product sold in Canada is shipped through the company’s national distribution centre on Savannah Oaks Drive in Brantford.
“We’ve been able to have tremendous cost savings as opposed to being in the big city,” Beatty said. “It’s just a perfect location for being cost-effective, functional and practical.”
The distribution centre only uses energy efficient lightbulbs and has solar panels on the roof, which generate profit for the company while helping the environment, Beatty said.
Along with its famed brand, Rawlings Canada distributes Worth, Miken and Gait Lacrosse products.
Beatty credited support from Rawlings head office in St. Louis and independent Source for Sports dealers for establishing the company as a leader in the sporting goods industry.
“The Source for Sports group has always been a key focus for our growth and brand exposure in Canada,” Beatty said. “Their connection and understanding of the team sports business…is and always has been extraordinary.”
