Rev. Cheryl Tuck says a "psychic tea party" held at her church on the weekend gave people a chance to heal from their grief.
“We all have situations in our lives that tend to get us down,” Tuck said. “Today is a really good opportunity to bring in proof that life continues after death.”
About 200 people attended Hope Memorial Spiritual Church on Saturday for a "Mad Hatter Psychic Tea Party."
The event, which the church hosts three times a year, included psychic readings by spiritual mediums, relaxation massages and eight vendors selling gems, books, jewelry and meditation materials.
“We believe we can have communication with those who have passed and that is what today is all about,” Tuck said. “I hope people come away with a feeling of peace, joy and a great feeling of love.
“For those who have lost a loved one, if they come through (spiritual medium readings), it is peaceful for them to know their loved one is at peace.”
Hope Memorial Spiritual Church member and event co-organizer Mary Alderson said it brings her inner peace to know that her deceased father’s spirit is also at peace.
“I have been astounded that spiritualist church mediums have been able to describe exactly how my father passed away,” Alderson said. “She knew I planted forget-me-nots at his grave site and she didn’t even know me. It opens a door to extreme possibilities.”
Hope Memorial Spiritual Church holds weekly Sunday morning services at 11 a.m. The church will celebrate its 64th anniversary on March 24.
