Youth arrested in relation to multiple break-ins
A 15-year-old is facing multiple break and enter charges following an investigation into a rash of thefts.
Police arrested the suspect shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say the accused entered a Baxter Street home on Nov. 17 and stole a gaming system.
On Nov. 19, the accused entered a Dunsdon Street home sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and stole numerous electronic items and alcohol.
On Nov. 20, the youth attempted to break into a Maplecrest Lane residence sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The homeowner, who was home at the time, heard the doorbell ring, but saw no one at the front door.
The accused attempted to gain entry through a rear basement window, but was spotted by the homeowner before the suspect fled on foot.
On the same day, the accused entered a Herbert Street home and stole a safe, two gaming systems, a tub of ice cream and several spoons. The safe was recovered in a nearby park.
A 15-year-old is charged with two counts of break and enter and committing theft under $5,000, attempted break and enter with intent to commit theft and theft under $5,000.
