Second arrest made in fraud investigation
A second person faces fraud charges in relation to more than $500,000 in misappropriated funds from Ball Media Corporation.
Investigators say the man made personal purchases on Ball Media Corporation credit cards.
He was released from custody and will appear in court on June 15.
Luigi Phillip Imola, 47, of St. Andrews Drive in Brantford is charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
On March 5, police arrested Christine Elizabeth Imola, 45, also of St. Andrews Drive, in relation to the investigation. The woman is a former CEO of Ball Media Corporation and also faces charges of fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
The Brantford Police Service responded to a report of fraud at Ball Media Corporation on Feb. 3.
It is alleged that between January 2007 and January 2012, the woman had been issuing herself extra pay, writing herself company cheques, issuing pay cheques to a person who was known to her but not an employee of the company and charging numerous personal items to company credit cards.
Personal charges found on company credit card statements for the period in review are alleged to total more than $167,000.
The total amount of funds misappropriated by the woman during the five-year period is alleged to be more than $565,000.
