Owned and operated by the City of Brantford, Earl Haig Family Fun Park has been a local summer holiday destination for more than 70 years.
It is hard to understand why residents of Brantford would worry themselves with the hassle and cost of travelling this summer when there is so much on offer in their local surroundings.
Earl Haig Park has provided a cool refuge for the summer months and offered activities for people of all ages.
There are a wide range of facilities available which make it seem as if you have visited more than one place in the day.
The beauty of this place being that once inside, you never have to travel more than 100 metres to get to different activities in what appear to be different locations.
It would be hard to find a similar place in such a convenient location which offered such a range of summer activities.
If relaxing would be your ideal way to spend a summer day you could sunbathe in the waters of the 'lazy river' but if you are after something a little racier there are several options to choose from.
The most obvious choice would be the go-kart track with a half mile of challenging fun for the Grand Prix dreamers amongst us.
If you want something a little less nail-biting, you could take in a round of golf on the 18-hole, putt-putt, course or test your skill in the batting cages.
Earl Haig Park appeared to be a good place for children and adults to take advantage of the warmer weather.
A member of the Adult Beckett Centre, Alice Chisholm, said the fun park had a great, relaxed atmosphere.
In fact, Earl Haig Park is such a popular destination that from the May until September facilities supervisor Karen Winter said she expected up to 40,000 people would pass through the turnstiles.
So rather than climbing into the gas guzzler and travelling abroad this summer, why not pack a picnic lunch and enjoy something a little closer to home?
