Terry Robbins and his daughter Gabby, 7, pick up a pair of skates from the Brantford Public Library on Wednesday. The library and Brantford’s parks and recreation department collected 70 pairs of gently used skates to give away to community members to promote the city’s Skate and a Movie program. Held on Saturdays, Skate and a Movie encourages families to get some exercise skating at Harmony Square and later warm up by taking in a movie at the library. Skate and a Movie runs for two more weekends. This weekend’s film is Rio. Feb. 25 will feature Penguins of Madagascar: Operation Blowhole. Both movies start at 2:30 p.m.
