
Mackenzie Pulham: Athlete of the Week for July 12, 2012

Mackenzie is a 17 year old Grade 12 student from Pauline Johnson She is actively involved in soccer, volleyball, gymnastics and basketball.
Mackenzie trained 12 years as a high provincial gymnast, on average she would train 20 hours a week. Over the years Mackenzie has won numerous medals and won the Heart & Hustle award in 2007/2008 and 2011.
At the age of 6 she started playing house league soccer moving on to competitive soccer at the age of 13. She has won many team awards including M.V.P. and most dedicated player. She currently plays for the P.J. soccer team.
She started playing competitive volleyball for Brant Youth Volleyball starting in 2008. She has helped her team win two bronze and one silver medal. Mackenzie also plays on the school team helping them to place second at the BCSSAA and third at CWOSSA.
Mackenzie won the Female Athletic Award from Banbury Height in 2009. At P.J. she has been playing basketball since Gr. 4 helping her team to go to CWOSSA. She started wrestling in Gr. 10 winning the silver medal at BCSSAA in 2012. Mackenzie also plays badminton winning the BCSSAA Championship in girl’s doubles in 2008 and placing third in 2012.
Mackenzie entered the Flying Angels International Classic meet in London for Track & Field in the summer of 2011. She set the long jump record of 4.81 m & placed second in triple jump. She continues to compete in Track at school winning numerous awards.
She is a part of the Athletic Council at school and involved in the Ministry of Fun as well as the ASSIST program. Mackenzie is a volunteer at the Branlyn Community Centre as a referee for the adult volleyball league.
Mackenzie loves art class and enjoys reading in her spare time. She is hoping to take graphic design once she graduates and plans to continue playing volleyball.
