The Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant recently announced nine local companies and entrepreneurs as finalists in the 2012 Business Excellence Awards.
“We have an impressive and diverse group of companies and entrepreneurs nominated for the 2012 Business Excellence Awards, which illustrates the strength of our community and the impact business has on our quality of life,” chamber president Cathy Oden said.
Nominated for this year’s company award are Brant Mutual Insurance, Brantwood Residential Development Centre and Mitten Inc.
The company award recognizes unusual business achievements, high standards of employee relations, entrepreneurial skills and making a positive impact in the community.
Entrepreneur award nominees are Michael Clawsie of Clawsie Kitchens, Paulette and Dr. Alfred Hauk of Holistic Healing Arts Centre and Mal McEachern of Gilbert-McEachern.
The entrepreneur award recognizes an individual who operates a business at their own financial risk, demonstrates excellence in community relations, product innovation and sales or employment growth.
Nominated for this year’s technology award are John Chambers of The Expositor, Rose Vespa of the Brantford Public Library and Marilyn Shaver of Minotaur Guardian Service Limited.
The technology award recognizes ingenuity and innovation in developing and implementing a new technology, process, product or service.
The winners in each category will be announced at the annual Business Excellence Awards Gala on May 10 at the Best Western Brant Park Inn.
